LOS ANGELES - Jury selection has begun in Britney Spears' driver's license case.
The first slate of potential jurors arrived Wednesday morning at the San Fernando Valley courtroom where Spears' case will be heard.
The 26-year-old pop singer is charged with a single count of driving without a valid license. She faces jail time and a fine if convicted, but isn't expected to appear during the case and won't hear the verdict firsthand.
Attorneys conferred with a judge for over an hour, but no deal was reached Wednesday. Her attorney claims Spears is being unfairly targeted because she is a celebrity.

Rocker and Democratic supporter Jon Bon Jovi on Wednesday became the latest musician to complain about Republican John McCain's presidential campaign using songs without the artists' approval.
Bon Jovi, who threw a $30,000-per-person, fund-raising dinner for Democrat Barack Obama at his New Jersey home in September, said he was surprised to hear that his band's song "Who Says You Can't Go Home" was used during rallies held by Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin this week.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -
A rare form of migraine forced Janet Jackson to cancel several dates on her Rock Witchu concert tour but she planned to return to the stage on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., her manager said.
Jackson's health problems had been a mystery since her show in Montreal was called off at the last minute on September 29. The Grammy-award winning singer, who is 42, was rushed to a hospital and released a couple hours later.
Since then she has canceled or postponed six shows, often at short notice.
Jackson's representatives released a statement saying that doctors had determined the singer suffers from migraine-associated vertigo and is receiving treatment.

U.S. pop star Madonna and British film director Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce, they announced on Wednesday, ending nearly eight years of marriage and months of tabloid speculation over their relationship.
The celebrity couple, who have a joint fortune estimated at around $525 million, have yet to reach a final settlement on the terms of the split.

NEW YORK - Janet Jackson is returning to her "Rock Witchu" tour and finally revealing the mystery illness that led her to cancel a string of concerts.
Following two weeks of scrapped shows, Jackson is scheduled to resume her tour Wednesday night in Washington after a bout of migraine-associated vertigo. She is being treated for the illness, characterized by dizziness, imbalance and other symptoms.
Her manager says the singer is "feeling much better" and is ready to hit the road to finish the tour.
Upcoming stops include Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, New York and East Rutherford, New Jersey.
