LOS ANGELES - A jury has been seated in Britney Spears' misdemeanor driving-without-a-license trial.
The panel was completed Thursday morning and opening statements were expected. Police officers, a celebrity Web site employee, and possibly Spear's father were set to testify.
The pop star, whose new single "Womanizer" is atop the Billboard charts, was not in attendance.
The mostly-female jury includes a schoolteacher and others who work in a variety of industries, including banking, insurance and health care. Some prospective jurors were disqualified when they expressed strong feelings against Spears and the paparazzi.
The charge is the last remnant of a criminal case that was filed after Spear |

CPR can triple survival rates, but some peopl |

Singer Stevie Wonder on Thursday shot down reports his home was left a smoldering ruin by a wildfire burning in the foothills around Los Angeles.
The fire at the northern edge of the heavily populated San Fernando Valley has destroyed 19 homes since a downed power line sparked the blaze on Monday.
The New York Post reported on Thursday that Wonder's home was one of those that went up in flames and that all his musical memorabilia had been destroyed.
"I'm grateful to say that my house was not burned down in the fire," Wonder said in a statement. "I extend my sympathies to anyone who may have been touched by this horrendous event."
