LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears did not appear at her driver's license trial Thursday. Instead, her father did the talking.
Spears' defense consisted solely of the testimony of Jamie Spears, who told jurors his daughter intends to return to Louisiana once she has custody of her children. The singer's attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, said in his opening statement that she was exempt from having a California driver's license because she didn't meet residency requirements.
On cross-examination, however, Jamie Spears acknowledged that his daughter got married, had two children and divorced in California.
Both sides rested their cases Thursday afternoon and jurors will return for deliberations Friday morning. |

NEW YORK (Billboard) -
Rock band My Morning Jacket has canceled its fall European tour because frontman Jim James is still recovering from injuries suffered after a stage fall this month in Iowa City, Iowa.
"Our hope was to merely postpone the tour, but as our scheduling does not allow that to happen in the immediate future, we feel it is best to cancel this tour in hopes of rescheduling at some point," the band said in a statement.
The trek was to begin October 29 in Dublin. MMJ's calendar is thus cleared until shows December 27-28 in Chicago, which will serve as makeup dates for concerts postponed in the immediate wake of James' injury.
