Rsyslog is an enhanced multithreaded syslogd. Among others, it offers support for reliable syslog over TCP, RFC 3195, writing to MySQL databases, fully configurable output formats (including great timestamps), remote sender limitation, and flexible filtering on any message content. It is designed as a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and thus able to work with the same config file syntax. Of course, some enhanced features require changing the config file, but in general, this should be fairly easy.Licence : GPL

GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool. It copies data from one file or block device (hard disc, cdrom, etc) to another, trying hard to rescue data in case of read errors. Ddrescue does not truncate the output file if not asked to. So, every time you run it on the same output file, it tries to fill in the gaps. The basic operation of ddrescue is fully automatic. That is, you don't have to wait for an error, stop the program, read the log, run it in reverse mode, etc. Automatic merging of backups: If you have two or more damaged copies of a file, cdrom, etc, and run ddrescue on all of them, one at a time, with the same output file, you will probably obtain a complete and error-free file. This is so because the probability of having damaged areas at the same places on different inp |

SocNetV (Social Networks Visualiser) is a flexible and user-friendly tool for Social Networks Analysis and Visualisation. It lets you create new networks (graphs) with a few clicks on a virtual canvas or load networks of various formats (GraphViz, GraphML, Adjacency, Pajek, etc) and modify them to suit your needs. The application can compute network properties, such as density, diameter and distances, as well as node and network centralities. Various layout algorithms (i.e. Spring-embedder, circular and in levels according to centralities) are supported for meaningful visualisations of your networks. Furthermore, simple random networks (lattice, same degree, etc) can be created. SocNetV is being developed in C++ with the Qt GUI development toolkit, for Linux, but you can compil |
