The TSA (Transportation Security Administration) have a new rule about showing IDs when you pass through airports in the US. If you haven't a valid ID and you give the TSA grief about it, you won't be flying that day.
The following paragraph is taken from the TSA's web site announcing that airport ID requirements have been enhanced:
"Beginning Saturday, June 21, 2008 passengers that willfully refuse to provide identification at security checkpoint will be denied access to the secure area of airports. This change will apply exclusively to individuals that simply refuse to provide any identification or assist transportation security officers in ascertaining their identity."However, if you don't want to read |

Let's put a definition out there for ourselves. Semantics and language are everything:
We are BA's who recommend the right solution in the right place at the right time in order for business to exceed expectations for competitive edge. We implement on time and within budget. We lead but we don't manage (we don't want to manage). We are experts in the application of technology to business problems. We are technologically agnostic and we operate with the highest ethical standards (vendors can't buy us). We never say we can’t do it – we tell you how to do it properly.
I like that -
To be considered and expert you must understand a few things - system architecture, object oriented design and basic business knowledge. You don't need to BE an architect and you don |

It was suggested today by Martin Packer on Twitter that we should check out a recent blog entry by Kevin Keller, "Getting started with the Web 2.0 on System z". It makes for a very interesting, if not very detailed, read on System z and Web 2.0. If you're in to this stuff, this makes for an excellent read.

His introduction...
"Finally, here it is, the first blog about Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 on System z."What are some of the differences...

Willie's "Getting the Most out of DB2 for z/OS and System z" blog.
I had a great week this week. I flew up to Hartford, CT and drove to Sturbridge, MA to present at the New England DB2 Users Group (or NEDB2UG). This group has alway been great to speak at. It's like going home to visit family; everyone is happy to see you, lots of honest "Hello's", firm handshakes, and hugs. And their meetings are always so well attended. I think we had over 60 folks at this weeks meeting.
They allowed me to do two presentations on this trip. My first presentation was on Data warehousing's use of DB2 of z/OS. The second covered DB2 9 universal table spaces and the new reordered row format. I think I may owe a few people a couple of answers on universal table spaces. If I do, send me |

I missed it!!! Wednesday was my blogging anniversary here at IT Toolbox. On June 18th, 2004, I posted my first blog entry here (how valuable is your value). We are now 474 (475 including this post) entries and 4 years down the road. A lot has happened in that time - but as I perused my past messages, most of the advice seems relevant and good. I am satisfied with my offerings to the community. Weeeeeeeeee..... Life! I also realize that my own career and my post often go far afield of IT - although, it must be admitted that I am pretty good at tying life's adventures back to tangible career lessons. Seeing those one-off connections and life patterns makes that possible. So, I might apologize for those rambling exc |
