Microsoft Access 2003 - Remove the Startup Task Pane
When you start Microsoft Access 2003 without automatically opening a database, a "Getting Started" pane appears on the right side of the application window. This provides shortcuts to connecting to "Microsoft Office Online", getting the latest news about Access, as well as shortcuts to your last viewed databases. While many people like this feature, others may find this pane annoying. To disable it:

1. Open or create a database to enable the "Tools" - "Options" menu.

2. Click "Tools" - "Options".

3. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "View" tab.

4. Uncheck "Startup Task Pane" underneath "Show".

5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Windows Vista - Windows Sidebar - Windows Sidebar Alternatives
While many people enjoy using the Windows Vista Sidebar and downloading third-party gadgets, others may find the list of available gadgets underwhelming.

* The Google Desktop includes its own sidebar application. A wide range of Desktop Gadgets are supported, including financial, games, communications tools, and computer maintenance.

* Opera Widgets run on the Desktop

Wireless Internet - Know Your Time Limits for Free Wi-Fi
Although you can get free wi-fi at many coffee, pastry, and deli shops, as well as other restaurants, don't plan on spending all day at one place to use the Internet.

* If you don't continue to purchase items at an establishment, some employees or the management may ask you to leave if you stay too long. This is most likely during peak times when seats may be at a premium.

* If you access the Internet at Panera Bread, be sure to read the welcome screen before connecting. They have started to limit wi-fi usage to thirty minutes between the hours of 11:30a - 1:30p in order to serve more customers during their busiest times. This is not a recommendation but a hard limit - you will be kicked offline if you go over this amount. Other restaurants may adopt the same policies
