While the Windows XP Calculator contains many basic and scientific functions, you may need a calculator that performs advanced functionality as well as the ability to plot equations on a graph. If so, you're in luck, as Microsoft provides such a tool for free in its PowerToys suite.
1. Visit the following webpage to access the Microsoft Windows XP PowerToys website:

In Unix, the whois command allows you to query remote databases to determine the owner of an IP address or domain. This sometimes contains business administrative and technical contacts, as well as a business address and phone number.
Unfortunately, Windows XP users normally must rely on third-party websites to access this information such as Whois.Net or Internic Whois.
However, Windows XP users can download a substitute for the Unix whois command, available from the Sysinternals site, part of Microsoft Technet.
Simply download the zip file Whois.zip, unzip the contained executable to your main Windows directory, and you can query for information using the following command:
whois DOMAIN_OR_IP

Keyboard repeating, however, is not limited to cursor keys, and if you are typing a document and accidentally hold a key down too long, it will rrreeeeeepeat. The amount of time you must hold down a key, as well as the speed of the keyboard repeating, can be modified in Windows XP so that characters should not repeat so frequently.
1. Click the "Start" button, selecting "Settings" - "Control Panel".
2. If you are in the Control Panel's Category View, click "Printers and Other Hardware", then click " |

If you still have a USB port free after hooking up a keyboard, mouse, webcam, digital camera memory reader, printer, scanner, and media player, perhaps this device might add some holiday cheer.
USB Geek, a purveyor of all types of USB devices including thermometers, fans, and a mini-fridge, offers a miniature drumming Santa Claus. Playing four Christmas songs, this USB Santa drums along to the music while LED lights flash. No software is required - this device is literally plug and play.
For those fellow officemates who have had enough Christmas cheer when you bring this into your cubicle and leave it running all day <g>, there is an on/off switch.
